About Bronx River Addition
The Bronx River Addition modernization is part of the New York City Public Housing Preservation Trust (Trust) effort to bring long‑overdue, high‑quality repairs to public housing through the Trust Modernization & Preservation Program. Bronx River Addition has voted to be part of the Trust Program and a third part Design-Build General Contractor has been selected and started the pre-construction work on the Project to deliver a comprehensive renovation to all residents.
This approach unlocks new federal Section 8 funding and provides the resources needed to complete major capital work that has been deferred for years.

The modernization will address core building needs and improve the quality, comfort, and safety of residents’ homes. Planned upgrades include new kitchens and bathrooms, interior finishes, heating and cooling improvements, modernized elevators, enhanced electrical and plumbing systems, new windows and repairs to the building envelope, and the safe remediation of environmental hazards such as lead, mold, and asbestos. Site and landscape work will also be completed to strengthen the overall landscape environment.
A central feature of the Trust Mod Program is resident partnership. Bronx River Addition residents help shape priorities for the renovation, participated in selecting the design‑build team, and remain involved throughout construction to ensure the work aligns with community needs.
Fifth Avenue Builders
Fifth Avenue Builders has been selected as the Design-Build Team, responsible for both design and construction. This structure is anticipated to streamline coordination, reduce delays, and help ensure the project stays on schedule and within budget. It also allows the team to respond more quickly to resident feedback and maintain clear communication throughout the process.
